How to install Truckers Helper on Windows Home Server and use it as your primary computer.
You must have a network license to run Truckers Helper on multiple computers at the same time. For more information about obtaining a network license please contact support @ 321-956-7331 This tutorial already assumes that you have Windows Home Server installed, and up and running, as well as the Windows Home Server Connector Components already running on your workstations. ~~~~~~~~~~ You must first install Truckers Helper on the server. This will require you to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse on your Home Server. After inserting the CD / DVD into your server you will need to use Windows Explorer to locate the program installer. ![]() After locating the setup.exe file, simply double click on the file and install the program just as you would on any normal computer. ![]() ![]() After successfully installing the program you will need to change some permissions so that the program can be used over the network. To do this open WINDOWS EXPLORER again. Windows Explorer can be found by clicking on the START menu at the bottom of your screen. Next, RIGHT CLICK on the Truckers Helper 7 folder and choose SHARING AND SECURITY ![]() Now put a check in the box that says "SHARE THIS FOLDER" ![]() While you have this window still open click on the button that says PERMISSIONS. When the permission screen opens, click on EVERYONE and then put a check in the box that says FULL CONTROL. This should also automatically check the box that says CHANGE. This is supposed to happen. Now click APPLY and then OK. The window should close. Now click APPLY and OK on the open window that is remaining, and it should close as well. ![]() You can now close any windows that are still open. The next and final step is to simply open the program. It will ask for your name as you want it to appear as well as your customer number. To make things easy, you should also fill in your header information and add at least one truck to the program. You can then go to WEBTOOLS > ONLINE UPDATE and make sure you are running the most current version of the program. ![]() After your online update is complete AND you have done a workstation install on all your workstations it is then time to call Truckers Helper Support @ 321-956-7331 so that they can register your program as the main computer and of course get your workstations registered as well. ** Other Notes ** Windows Home Server is not meant to be used as an everyday computer, but from time to time you will still want to open Truckers Helper and get an online update. |
