Thanks for the question. The New Features forum is for something new that you want in the program so I moved this question to the FAQ's. I also answered this for both the standalone and the online versions of the program so you can choose whichever applies to you.

STANDALONE VERSION:
In the Standalone program in order for the Settlement to balance once everything is entered you need to have been paid something. You can't enter a negative settlement because the settlement page is not set up to deal with being in the hole. Enter the settlement and get it balanced so you agree with the negative amount and then leave it until the following week. When you get the following settlement enter it as well and then it should balance. We're assuming that you won't have two negative weeks in a row. If you do you may want to reconsider who you're leased to. Generally the two weeks together will have a positive balance and you can then export the settlements to your Income & Expense section.

ONLINE VERSION:
In the Online Version you can enter the negative amount as the CHECK AMOUNT and the program will make the necessary entries and create a Driver Advance entry for the negative amount. Then the next week it will deduct that driver advance from the settlement you are entering for that week. You can also use the method above and it will work, so you have a choice. The easiest way is the to enter the negative amount as the check amount so the settlement will balance as the driver advance that it creates should be on your next Settlement from the company. Generally the company wants any negative amount settled as quickly as possible so they will deduct it the following week.

Let us know if you have any other questions on this,
